Synopsis:
"From the author of the worldwide bestsellers This Ends Here, This Begins Here, If It Were Perfect, and Wounded Hearts.
After serving five years in prison for a tragic mistake, Kenna Rowan returns to the town where her life derailed, hoping to get Diem, her 4-year-old daughter, back. However, the ghosts of the past seem intent on preventing this reunion, despite her efforts to prove herself to everyone who is now part of the girl's life.
The only one who seems willing to help her is Ledger Ward, owner of a local bar and one of the few who can act as a link between Kenna and her daughter. However, the closeness between them must not be revealed to anyone, otherwise they will lose the trust of those dearest to them.
But as Kenna and Ledger form a bond that seems unshakeable, the risks they face become greater and greater, and if Kenna is to build a future of hope and redemption, she must find a way to absolve herself of the mistakes of the past."
Opinion:
"This review took me a long time to write, and I'm unsure whether it's due to feeling blocked or because the book itself didn't captivate me. As I've mentioned in previous reviews, I'm not a fan of the writer Colleen Hoover. I find her books to be somewhat repetitive, and even though she addresses various themes, they fail to surprise me.
Since I haven't had the chance to acquire the second book by Colleen yet, I decided to continue reading this one. It delves into important issues such as second chances in life, despite making mistakes or facing unpleasant consequences – something we all experience, ranging from minor errors with minimal repercussions to more severe ones.
The book consists of 336 pages and falls under the genre of a novel. It took some time for me to truly engage with the story, but it became more interesting in the middle with its intriguing elements like deaths and fugitives. However, I must admit that some of her earlier works were more captivating than this one, which ultimately concluded in a very clichéd and predictable manner.
In conclusion, I must reiterate that this review reflects my honest opinion. Although the book had its moments, it didn't resonate with me entirely. The writing style felt clichéd and lacked originality, and the plot twists were rather obvious. Despite addressing essential themes, it didn't leave a lasting impact. If you're a fan of Colleen Hoover's writing, you might still enjoy it, but I would recommend exploring her earlier works instead." 🙄
