Synopsis:
"In Caldwell, New York, the war between vampires and their killers escalates with the emergence of a secret sibling group - six warrior vampires, fierce defenders of their race. However, the cold heart of this fearsome and cunning predator will warm even against his wishes...
Ruthless and brilliant, Vishous, son of Bloodletter, carries a fearsome curse with him, the frightening ability to predict the future. There were countless storms and abuses he went through while growing up on his father's battlefield, and like every other member of the Brotherhood, he has no interest in love or emotions, only in fighting the Lessening Society.
However, an unforeseen mortal injury makes him responsible for a surgeon, Jane Whitcomb, leading him to reveal his deepest pain and feel true pleasure for the first time - until fate, which he did not choose, leads him into an overwhelming future that no longer includes her."
Opinion:
Here we go for the fifth book! When we are reading we don't realize how extensive the saga is, but writing there we see the reality!
As mentioned this fifth book is about Vishous and Jane. - When I knew that this book would be about Vishous I just thought: "it will be a very complicated book", because according to the previous books I could see that this character is not very affectionate nor easy to deal with.
This character is very important in this saga, you can't imagine what you will discover when you read the book! I can advance and probably kill the "bug" a little.
Vishous, is a brother of the Brotherhood of the Black Dagger, an excellent and cold fighter, who is also known as that intelligent computer "being", but who also builds the daggers for the Brotherhood, that is, each new member is entitled to a dagger custom-made so that the hilt fits the hand "like a glove". Besides building daggers it has very dark secrets (which I will not reveal), but if you think the other books have too much erotic content then this one in my opinion breaks the record!
Throughout the story we will meet a Vishous of different phases, namely in love which is extremely strange, he falls in love with Jane a human doctor, with a strong character, who does not give up easily on her ideals and puts a lot of commitment and professionalism in her work.
We will also realize that Vishous' life has never been good to him since birth, he was not very lucky with his parents, his childhood was very traumatic hence he has that personality, and to make matters worse he loses the person he loves! You must be thinking: "his mother?" Exactly! The Virgin Clerk is Vishous' mother! (I confess, neither was I!)
Aside from the "record-breaking" content part, I loved the way Ward made the story unfold, I could feel joy, sadness, somehow worry and also anger. There were several unexpected events and it made me want to know all the time what was coming in the next pages.
I highly recommend the continuation of the saga!
